the basics of sounds.

on the side is hiragana.

and this side is katakana

these are the japanese alphabets that you should be able to decipher by the english translations beside every alphabets.

1 thing you should know about japanese words is that they never spell like any english words.the words are made up out of the sounds they make.
e,g: letter=tegami(てがみ)

and so that you can learn to pronounce them right, here is a video i ripped off from youtube(as i was so lazy and busy to make 1 of my own)

in case any of you wondering what it says in the beginning,1 thing it says is start.
sutaato means start. 1 thing you should remember.hiragana are used on genuine japanese language.while katakana is used to spell out foreign language.since japanese words are made out of sound instead of alphabets like english.so START is build up out of the available katakana alphabets. (su=ス),(ta=タ_)(a lengthened a=ー)(to=ト)
p/s: another thing is the lengthened symbol is used to compensate for the R alphabet that was silenced and since there is no any other word to spell the R
